A tuner is a car with custom body components

and performance features. Tuners are usually built on current and older models of small Japanese cars such as Honda Civic and Prelude, Nissan Sentra, and Mitsubishi Lancer and occasionally domestic models like the Dodge Neon and Ford Focus.

Tuners are known for their colorful appearance, characterized by bright paintjobs, body-colored or chromed wheels, novelty spoilers, lamp covers, and other eye-catchers. Typical performance modifications include superchargers, nitrous oxide boosters, and upgraded air intake and exhaust systems. Suspensions may be stiffened with aftermarket shocks and springs—or replaced altogether with air systems. On the inside, some tuners boast sport seats, dash overlays, gauge packages, and high-decibel sound systems.
