What is Ethanol?

Answer:
Ethanol is a type of grain alcohol derived from
crops such as corn, wheat, and barley. This clear liquid is mixed with gasoline to increase octane and reduce carbon monoxide emissions.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, about one of every eight gallons of gasoline sold today contains ethanol. In some states, use of ethanol in concentrations up to10% is mandatory. All gasoline-powered vehicles can run on these low-ethanol blends without loss of performance or engine life. Ethanol is produced in agricultural areas of the United States and is considered a renewable fuel since it made from harvested crops.
