What is Formula One?

Answer:
Formula One, which  can also be written
as F1 or Formula 1, is a class of auto racing.  The official name is the FIA Formula One World Championship, and it is sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, or FIA.

Formula One races are held on circuits built specifically for this purpose, and drivers can reach 200 miles per hour during a race.  Unlike NASCAR, Formula One is based in Europe, where about 50% of its races take place, making it less popular in the United States than stock car racing.  However, Formula One races, called Grands Prix, are becoming more popular all around the world.
