If you are looking for a nearly new, low-mileage car,

your best bet is a rental car agency. All national rental agencies have sales outlets where you can buy former rentals that are only six months to a year old.

These vehicles are typically mainstream sedans and minivans with most of their factory warranty remaining.

Although new car dealers offer such cars used, rental agencies tend to offer better selection and pricing. However, you aren’t likely to find high-end luxury or sports cars at rental agencies. For these, it is best to start your search with local classifieds since you are likely to get a better price from a private owner. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, try new car dealers that sell the brand of car you want. Chances are there will be several used examples to choose from. Perhaps you are merely looking for inexpensive, reliable transportation. If so, the best deals (and cars) will be found with private owners who know the history of the car and aren’t in business to make a profit.
