Which SUV's have the Highest Resale Values for 2006?

Answer:
With today's gasoline prices spiraling ever upward
as they have been for quite some time, some of the larger SUV type vehicles are fast losing their appeal to a wide sector of the motor vehicle market, and today's buyer might be thinking "smaller is better" ...again! (Does anyone remember the 70's?)

Edmunds.com lists the top 5 highest resale value SUV's for the model year 2006 as follows. Note: Edmonds.com percentages for residual values is based on "the percentage of its original value that the vehicle is likely to retain after five years with an annual mileage of 15,000".

The Toyota 4Runner tops the list, holding 49.3% of its original value. ConsumerGuideAuto test data rates this vehicle in the high average level, and lists cargo room, instruments/controls and visibility as three of 4Runner's positive traits.

Next in line is the Honda CR-V, which holds 49.0% of its original value. ConsumerGuideAuto gives the CR-V a high average rating, and they list passenger and cargo room, maneuverability, and build quality as three of the CR-V's best liked features.

Third in line is the Toyota Sequoia, which holds 48.9% original value. ConsumerGuideAuto gives the Sequoia  a high average rating, and list passenger and cargo room, instruments/controls, and build quality as Sequoia's top three positives.

Tied with the Sequoia is the Lexus GX 470, which also holds 48.9% of its original value.  ConsumerGuideAuto gives the GX 470 a high average rating, listing passenger and cargo room, and build quality as two of its most liked traits.

Rounding out the top 5 is the Toyota RAV4, holding 48.8% original value.  ConsumerGuideAuto gives the RAV4 an average overall rating, and lists acceleration, maneuverability, instruments/controls, and visibility as the RAV4's top four positive features.

Again, although the above SUV's have held their value as of the time of the survey, some of the unknown affects that still-rising gas prices may yet have on the SUV category of vehicle could change resale values for some models, as market demands change toward conservation.
