What is a Concept Car?

some new design feature. Concept cars are used at car shows to display new features, technology, or style that a car might have. Through displaying a concept car, the manufacturer can gauge the reaction of customers to new features before mass-producing a vehicle.

The design of a concept car is changed significantly before the car is mass-produced for the general public. Concept cars are used to display radical changes to engines, fuel systems, external designs, materials, or other aspects of a vehicle. These changes sometimes make it to the cars sold to the general public, and sometimes they are scratched due to cost of production, lack of customer response, or impracticality of use.
