How long does an Accident, DUI or Ticket stay on my driving record in Iowa?

Answer:
Do you live in Iowa?  Or, perhaps you are planning
to move to Iowa?  If so, you should know some things about the Iowa driving record laws and regulations.

Iowa, like many states, uses a point system to record violations of driving laws.  Some accidents, tickets, and other infractions count against your driving record; and, depending upon severity and other circumstances, might result in suspension or revocation of your license as well.

It is not readily or clearly defined just how long driving violations remain on Iowa driver's records, without studying the whole Iowa Code.

However, in most states, minor infractions typically remain on the record for at least three years.  More serious violations like DUI or OWI, as Iowa defines it, likely remain on the record indefinitely; or, at minimum, ten years.

You might also wish to review the Iowa Driver License Manual for more information.
