Answer:
Colorado operates under a point system. Infractions All front seat passengers, drivers, and children under the age of 16 who are riding in the back seat must be properly restrained by a seatbelt. Children who are under the age of four or weigh less than 40 pounds must be in a child safety seat. Children between four and six who are less than 55 inches tall must sit on a booster seat. Those violating these seatbelt laws will be charged up to $18 dollars in fines and fees. Anyone 17 years old or younger who is on a motorcycle must wear a helmet. Drivers who have a learner’s permit may not use a cellular phone while driving. Drivers with a license may use a phone, but should use caution. Colorado drivers must yield the right of way to any emergency vehicles that are using a siren, horn, or lights. If you can, you must pull to the right hand side of the road. If you are traveling on a four-lane highway and come upon a vehicle parked on the side of the road with lights flashing, you should pull into the other lane if you can. You also must follow all posted speed limits. Common speed limits are: · Winding mountain roads – 20 mph · Business districts – 25 mph · Residential districts – 25 mph · Mountain highways – 40 mph · Urban interstates and highways – 55 mph · Rural interstates and highways – 65 – 75 mph Violating the posted speed limit will earn you points on your record and a fine based on how high over the speed limit you were traveling.
