know a few things about the New York Lemon Laws, which provide protection to consumers from damages resulting from new and used motor vehicle non-conformity to express warranties.

Under New York Lemon Laws for new vehicles, consumers must file official complaint of vehicle non-conformity within 18,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first.

Under Lemon Laws for used vehicles, dealers must provide express warranties with varying terms, based on vehicle age, mileage and selling price, as spelled out in the Statutes.

New York Lemon Laws require consumers to allow a reasonable number of attempts to be made to repair non-confirmities. If non-conformities cannot be repaired within described parameters set forth in the Lemon Laws, manufacturers or dealers must replace the vehicle (in new vehicle cases) with another of equal value and quality and acceptable to the consumer, or refund the vehicle purchase price, less reasonable, applicable usage charges.
