What are the Washington, D.C. Lemon Laws?

Answer:
Although Washington, D.C. is not a State, it
has its own Lemon Laws.  The Washington, D.C. Lemon Laws protect consumers from damages resulting from new motor vehicles not conforming to manufacturer's warranties.

Described as:
Washington D.C. (District of Columbia) Lemon Law Statue
DIVISION VIII, TITLE 50, SUBTITLE II.CHAPTER 5

Under the Washington, D.C. Lemon Laws, consumers must file official complaints of non-conformity within two years or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Consumers must allow a reasonable number of attempts to repair to be made before manufacturers are required to replace the vehicle or refund any monies.

As with most State Lemon Laws, Washington, D.C. Lemon Laws include language which allows the intent of "reasonable number of attempts to repair" to be met by: a) Same non-conformity being repaired (or attempted) four or more times; b) Same safety-related non-conformity being repaired (or attempted) one or more times; c) Vehicle being out of service for a cumulative total of 30 days or more.  These cases all must be within warranty terms and periods as described in the Lemon Laws.
