Where can I find resources for Buying or Selling a car in Georgia?

Answer:
If you are planning a move to Georgia, the "Peach
State", you probably will want to know some things about buying or selling a car in that state.

As in most states, Georgia Lemon Laws protect buyers against fraudulent or deceptive motor vehicle sales practices.  However, it is up to you to protect yourself by knowing the basic requirements.

In Georgia, you can transfer license plates (registration) at County Tax Commissioners' offices within 30 days of purchasing another motor vehicle, providing you do not need new license plates, and providing the vehicles are in similar registration classifications.

You must also ensure that a valid Georgia Title is on record for your motor vehicle, unless it is exempt.  Visit the Georgia DMV web page dedicated to descriptions of which motor vehicles require Title.

For more information, visit the Georgia Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicles website.
