When your Hawaii driver’s license is about
to expire, you can renew it up to six months before the expiration date. You can either renew online or in person.

The fee to renew varies based on which county you live in and how long your license will be good for, but the fee tends to be between $5 and $18.

If you renew in person, you will need to take another vision test and be fingerprinted.

You can renew up to two times in a row by mail. To do so, you will mail or fax your request for renewal to the address of your county.

In the letter you send, include your name, date of birth, address, and Social Security number. You will need to sign the letter. Once the letter is processed, you will be sent a packet with the forms and instructions to use to renew by mail.
