How can I renew my Massachusetts Drivers License?

Your Massachusetts driver’s license is
good for five years and will expire on your birthday. You can renew up to a year before the license expires.

The renewal form can be found online at this link: http://www.mass.gov/rmv/forms/21053.pdf .

You can renew in person, online, or through the mail, depending on your circumstances. To renew online, print out the renewal form and bring it with your old license to the RMV office in your area. The fee for a renewal is $40. If you are eligible to renew online, this will be indicated on your renewal notice.

To renew online, you will need to do the following:

· Visit http://www.mass.gov/rmv/express/ .

· Input your information, including your current license information.

· Record the transaction identification number at the end of the process.

· Pay via credit card.


You will receive confirmation of your application via email within three business days of successfully applying for renewal online. The new license will be mailed to you within seven days.
