How can I renew my Michigan Drivers License?

Answer:
Your Michigan driver’s license will expire
every four years if you are over 21, or on your 21st birthday if you are under 21. You will be sent a notice of renewal five weeks before the expiration date. You can either renew by mail, if eligible, or in person.

If you are eligible to renew by mail, review all of the information on the renewal notice. Fill in all of the blanks, and mail the information along with an $18 check to:

Michigan Department of State
7064 Crowner Dr.
Lansing, MI 48980-0001

You will need to apply at least two weeks before your license expires to allow time for processing. I

f you are short on time or are required to renew in person, visit the Secretary of State Branch office in your area. You will need to bring your expiring license with you. While there, you will need to state your Social Security number and undergo a vision test. The renewal fee is also $18 if renewing in person.
