How can I renew my Washington D.C. Drivers License?

Answer:
Washington D.C. issues driver’s licenses
for up to five years. Your license can be renewed in person or online.

To renew in person, visit the DMV service location in your area. Bring your current license, proof of address or name change if these have changed, and the driver’s license application.

You can download the application at this link: http://www.dmv.dc.gov/info/forms/dl-app_pdf.shtm . If you are qualified to renew online, your renewal notice will indicate this fact.

If you can, visit https://public.dmv.washingtondc.gov/scripts/gs/tran_start.asp?id=8000 and follow the instructions to renew online. Your new license will be mailed to you after the application is approved. The cost to renew, whether in person or online, is $39.
