How do I transfer a car title in-state and out-of-state in Colorado?

Answer:
Once residency has been established, vehicle owners
have 30 days to register their out-of-state vehicles in Colorado. You must present your out-of-state registration or title; vehicle emission test verification (in some areas); a vehicle identification verification form; an accurate odometer reading; proof of insurance; and applicable lien holder information.

If you are a Colorado resident and want to register a new or used vehicle, you must present a properly endorsed title from the previous owner; an accurate odometer reading; proof of insurance; applicable lien holder information; the bill of sale; and, if the vehicle is registered out-of-state, a vehicle identification verification form.

In addition, “secure and verifiable identification,” which includes a Colorado driver’s license or an out-of-state photo driver’s license, passport, certificate of naturalization or U.S. citizenship, military ID, or tribal ID, is required for all Colorado vehicle registrations.
