How do I transfer a car title in-state and out-of-state in Florida?

Answer:
If you are new to the Sunshine state, you need to register
your vehicle and apply for a title within 10 days of establishing residency. A notarized Vehicle Identification Number and Odometer Verification form must be completed by either the dealer or a Florida notary or DMV employee.

Proof of insurance, a completed Application for Certificate of Title, and lien information, if any, must also be presented.

A driver’s license is not required to register a vehicle, and registration is not required to apply for title.

In order to transfer a Florida title to a new owner, the seller must complete the “Transfer of Title by Seller” section on the title, and the seller and buyer must sign it. The buyer then presents the title transfer when registering the vehicle in his name.
