What are the Alaska Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

If you own a snowmobile, ATV, motorcycle, trailer,

boat, van, truck, or car in Alaska, it will need to have a title. To transfer ownership of your vehicle, you will need to fill out the application for title and registration and bring submit the following documents:

· Manufacturer’s certificate of origin or transferred title

· Odometer reading for vehicles less than 12,000 lbs.

· Current registration, if it has some

· Lien holder registration, when applicable

The fee to register passenger vehicles is $100. The amount of tax on the title varies depending on the vehicle’s specifications and the city where you live. To register the vehicle, take your current title and the application to the DMV . The registration is good for two years, and can sometimes be renewed online. Residents of Anchorage or the Fairbanks North Star Borough are required to drive vehicles that have passed an emissions inspection.
