What are the California Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

Answer:
In order to title and register a vehicle in California,
you will need to make an appointment at the Department of Motor Vehicles in your area. You will need to provide the following documents at this appointment:

· Application for Title or Registration form

· Previous title with transfer information

· Bill of sale

· Odometer Disclosure Statement signed by the seller and buyer

The fee for registration in California is $31. The fee for a title transfer is $15. You will also be responsible for the sales tax on the vehicle.

You will also have to have your car inspected before it can be registered in California. Part of the inspection includes smog testing. Cars that are purchased out of state must have smog certification before they can be registered. Also, older cars that you are registering will need a smog certification.
