What are the Delaware Drivers License Requirements? |
|
Answer:
There are three tests required for all Delaware residents · Eye screening exam · Written test · Road test The cost for the application is $12.50. Also, Delaware specifically requires that drivers are able to read enough English to read road signs. Drivers who are under the age of 18 must work through the graduated driver’s license program. This requires a learner’s permit before the driver can get an unrestricted license. Applicants qualify for the level one learner’s permit when they are 16 years old and have completed a Delaware driver education program, and they must hold the learner’s permit for 12 months before they can get a regular license. For the first six months that a driver has the learner’s permit, an adult driver must be in the car at all times. The adult, known as a sponsor, will have to state that the driver has driven 50 hours, 10 of which have to be at night, before the driver can drive unsupervised. The level one permit will automatically change into an unrestricted license after 12 months of driving with a valid driving authority. All drivers must present two proofs of residence when applying for a driver’s license. Applicants must also provide proof of their date of birth and their Social Security number. First time drivers who are over 18 may be required to get a temporary instruction permit, which allows them to drive with an adult driver for 60 days before getting the regular driver’s license.
