What are the Delaware Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

The registration and titling process in Delaware begins

with purchasing insurance. Once you have insurance, you will need to get the vehicle inspected at the DMV.

To do this, you must provide proof of insurance. The DMV will evaluate whether or not the vehicle is safe to drive, and will also evaluate the amount of emissions the vehicle produces. You will need the transferred title or the Certificate of Origin for the inspection.

Once it passes inspection, you can title and register the vehicle. You will be given the title application when your vehicle passes inspection. You must bring this and the old title to the DMV to register and title the vehicle. The fee for a title is $15, and the fee to register the vehicle is $20 per year. You can register the vehicle for as many as five years.
