What are the Georgia Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

When you move to Georgia or purchase a new car

in the state, you have 30 days to register it, either after purchase or after establishing residency, whichever applies. To register and transfer a title for your vehicle you will need the following documents:

· Driver’s license

· Title application

· Certificate of Inspection (for vehicles without a title)

· Previous title or Certificate of Origin

· Proof of insurance

· Proof of emissions testing

The fee for a title in Georgia is $18. You will also pay a $20 registration fee. Sales tax varies by county. Registration in Georgia is good until your next birthday.

You will need to renew your vehicle’s registration any time within the 30 days prior to your birthday.
