What are the Maine Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

To title and register a vehicle in Maine, you

will need to present the following to the BMV office:

· Former title (for used cars)

· Title application

· Registration application

· Proof of insurance

· Manufacturer’s window sticker for new cars

· Sales tax form for new cars

· Odometer reading

The cost to register a vehicle is $25. You will also have to pay your taxes when you register the vehicle. The sales tax is 5% of the selling price of the vehicle.

You will also have to pay an excise tax, which goes to the town where you are registering the vehicle.
