The state of Massachusetts requires drivers to pass

There is a $40 fee for a license in Massachusetts. First time drivers have to start with a learner’s permit, which costs $30.

To apply for the learner’s permit the applicant must bring a Social Security card or passport and one other document that verifies the date of birth. Those under 18 must have parental consent.

These drivers must have 30 hours of supervised driving time before they can get their license. Also, teen drivers must complete driver’s education and carry a permit for six months before applying for a license. The license teens are given is a junior operator’s license, and the full license is available once they turn 18.
