What are the Minnesota Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

Answer:
When you purchase a vehicle in Minnesota, you
will need to title and register it with the Driver and Vehicle Services department. To do so, you will need the following documents:

· Emission certification

· Power of Attorney, if applicable

· Odometer readings

· Previous title

· Damage declaration

· Application to Title and Register a Motor Vehicle

· Proof of insurance

The cost to register a vehicle is $8.50, plus a $3.50 public safety fee. If you have a lien on the title, you will pay $2 to record it. The title costs $5.50, and you may have to pay a $10 tax on the title.

You will also have to pay a 6.5% sales tax on the fair market value or purchase price of the vehicle, whichever is more.
