What are the Mississippi Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

Answer:
When you purchase a vehicle in the state of Mississippi,
you must register and title it. To do so, bring the following documents to your county tax collector’s office within seven days of purchase:

· Form 78-002

· Odometer disclosure

· Certificate of Title or Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin

· Bill of sale

You will pay $10 to register the vehicle. The title transfer fee is $5. You can also get the title quickly through Mississippi’s Fast Track title program. This costs an additional $34, but the title will be in your hands within 72 hours.

You will also have to pay a privilege tax, sales tax, and ad valorem when you register your vehicle, and these will be based on how much your vehicle is worth and which county you live in.
