What are the Nebraska Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

To register and title a vehicle in Nebraska,

you need to submit the following documents to your County Official:

· Previous title filled out or Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin

· Application for Certificate of Title

· Proof of insurance

· Receipt for sales or excise taxes

· Signed lease agreement, if applicable

· Registration Application

· Notarized bill of sale

You must title and register the vehicle within 30 days of purchase. The title transfer fee is $10. You will also pay a fee to register your vehicle based on the make and model of the vehicle.

The calculator found at http://www.nebraska.gov/dmv_cgi/vte/cgi/dmv.cgi is a good tool to use to determine the registration fees. If you did not pay the sales tax on the vehicle at the dealership, you will have to pay it when you register the vehicle.
