To title and register a new or used vehicle in New Mexico,
you will need the following documents:


· Driver’s license or other ID

· Bill of sale

· Application for Vehicle Title and Registration

· Odometer Disclosure form

· Insurance proof

· Old title or Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin

· Proof of residency


If you live in Bernalillo County, you will also have to have a certificate of emissions inspection.

The fee to register your vehicle ranges between $25.50 and $60.50 for a one-year registration, and $50.50 and $120.50 for a two-year registration. Trucks cost more to register.

You will also pay an excise tax of 5% of the sale price of the vehicle. You must register and title any new vehicles within 30 days of purchase.
