What are the South Dakota Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

Answer:
If you purchase a vehicle in the state of South Dakota,
you must register it and apply for a title within 30 days of your purchase. To do so, visit the treasurer’s office in your county with the following documents:

· Old title or Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin

· Application for Title and Registration

· Odometer disclosure

· Damage disclosure

· Bill of Sale

You will pay a $5 fee for the title, along with a fee for registration. The registration fee depends on the age and weight of the car, but ranges between $21 and $65. You will also have to pay a 3% excise tax when you register the vehicle.
