To title and register a vehicle in the state of Utah,
you will need to bring the following to your local DMV office within 30 days of purchasing your vehicle:

· Form TC-656

· Bill of sale, previous title, or other proof of ownership

· Verification of VIN inspection

· Odometer statement

· Safety inspection certificate


One of the new owners must appear in person to apply for the new title. The title fee is $6. The registration fee, which is based on the county and type of vehicle you are registering, is between $21.50 and $31.50.

You will also be responsible for an age-based property tax, which could be anything from $10 to $150 depending on how old the vehicle is.

The sales tax will be based on the purchase price, and must be paid when you register the vehicle if you did not pay it at the dealership.
