What are the Washington Vehicle Registration and Title Requirements?

If you need to register and title a vehicle in the

state of Washington, you will need to bring the following documents to a Vehicle Licensing Office in your area:

· Old title for a used vehicle

· Bill of sale

· Odometer reading

· Identification

· Vehicle Certificate of Owner Application

After you purchase the vehicle you have 15 days in which you must apply for the title transfer, and you must register the vehicle within 30 days. The cost of the title transfer is $5.

The registration fee is usually around $30, but can be more for large, heavy vehicles. Emissions testing is required in Clark, King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane counties.

If you have not paid sales tax on the vehicle, you will have to do so when you register it.
