is the government body that is in charge of issuing Drivers Licenses and vehicle title, tag and registration services.
In the United States each DMV is different with regards to laws and regulations associated with Drivers License, and Vehicle Registration.
When you purchase a new or used car you'll need to register it with the State. Depending on your State, the process of vehicle registration usually involves visiting your local DMV where you will be required to show proof of insurance, your bill of sale or receipt that shows what you paid for the vehicle and the vehicle title. In most instances, you'll be required to pay your fees associated with registration which also entail receiving your license tag for your vehicle.
The DMV will often take your title and store it in a State facility. If you live in a state where they don't store your title it will be your responsibility to hold and store in a safe place.
