Where can I find Alaska Vehicle Inspection Centers?

Answer:
Certain areas in Alaska require periodic motor vehicle emissions inspection,
primarily areas close to Anchorage and Fairbanks.  It seems that Alaskans in the rough country there may be exempt from some of the typical motor vehicle inspection requirements.

Alaskans who frequently drive their vehicles to Anchorage or Fairbanks areas may be subject to emissions inspections.  This includes gasoline, diesel and dual-fuel powered vehicles.

New vehicles are exempt from emissions inspections in Alaska for the first four years, as of 2006.

Emissions inspections are typically carried out every two years, although there are some variables which might alter that schedule, depending on specific criteria.
