What is Freestyle Motocross?

Answer:
Freestyle motocross, or FMX, is a motorsport
that is a spin-off of motocross.  While motocross is all-terrain motorcycle racing, FMX includes stunts and jumps that are judged by a panel of ten judges.  The most common freestyle motocross is probably that in the X-Games.

Because of the dangerous nature of FMX, riders not only wear a helmet and goggles, but usually elbow pads, knee pads, and sometimes body armor and a neck brace.  The motorcycles are generally modified by the riders to increase flexibility and performance and decrease weight.

Freestyle motocross stunts include backflips, double backflips, underflips, frontflips, and spinning the motorcycle in various ways.  Other stunts include the rider performing acrobatics during a jump while on the motorcycle.
